What is Treated Mango Wood?

Before learning about treated mango wood, we should learn about what is mango wood. In simple words, Mango wood is a wood which comes from the mango tree (Scientific name: Mangifera indica L). In the South Asian world, mango trees had been cultivated for thousands of years and it is an integral part of a lot of cultures. While most Americans Citizens are very common with the juicy orange-fleshed fruit, but south Asian peoples are very familiar with mango juice. That is why; a lot of mango timber is cultivated in this region. In the USA, mango trees are mainly grown in Hawaii and Florida. Mango tree is the quick growing tree. It grows up to five feet within a single year. Its circumference may be up to 15 feet.

Mango wood is coarse in its texture and color of the mango wood varies from very light (like rubber wood) dark or golden brown to dark brown and sometimes it may be pinkish. Mango wood is a hard wood and it can be easily KILN dried. But it can be attacked by fungus. That is why; mango timber is chemically treated often before furniture manufacturing. Though mango wood isn’t hard enough (medium hard wood) to be used for flooring or wooden tiles but it is comparable to teak and oak.
